Vocation means calling
(from the Latin ‘vocare’)
Your vocation is what God calls you to do with your life. Everybody is called by God to know, love and serve him. The difference is how each one of us does this. In the one life God gave you to live, you have one overriding purpose, to fulfil the will of God.
God has created me to do Him some definite service; He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another.
St John Henry Newman
The Permanent Diaconate
Those ordained as permanent deacons have a ministry in today’s Church that is far reaching. Working under their bishop and alongside the parish priest, they serve the Church through the celebration of baptism and marriage, by preaching and by helping the most vulnerable members of the community. Candidates for the permanent diaconate may be married or unmarried. If you are interested in the diaconate, contact the Director of Permanent Diaconate, Fr Peter Hart.
