Jo Lewry would like to thank all the CAFOD parish volunteers who gave the fast day talks at Sunday Masses in their parishes over the last two weekends.
The photo shows Danielle our parish volunteer at St Boniface in Southampton and her amazing CAFOD display. Many thanks to those volunteers who also organized a fast day soup lunch or cake sale to fundraise for our World Food Crisis appeal. Recently the world food programme stated that “In just two years, the number of people facing acute food insecurity or at high risk increased by more than 200 million from 135 million in 53 countries pre-pandemic to 345 million in 82 countries today.” In our fast day talk we highlighted the situation in East Africa after 4 years of drought and plague of locusts over 20 million people are fighting for their very survival. It is so severe that schools are closed, and people are forced to keep moving to find food and water. The need it great and many communities are affected so your prayers and donations are much appreciated. If you haven’t heard our fast day talk, you can watch a video of it by clicking here. Thank you to everyone who has donated to the Family fast day appeal by using the fast day envelopes in their parish and you can still donate online here Family Fast Day – Harvest 2022 | CAFOD. Thank you so much for your support.
