School Support Officers

The role of the School Support Officers is to build a unique relationship with individual primary schools (both VA and academies), based on knowledge and trust, enabling the department to offer and/or broker timely support, where necessary, that is tailored to specific requirements.

All primary VA schools and academies will have a named School Support Officer (SSO). The support of the SSO may include activities such as attendance at senior leadership appointments or help with matters such as school improvement, staffing issues, pastoral support or the Catholic life of the school.
