Walk the World!

 

An opportunity for young people (and not so young!) to walk (approx 8 miles) and raise funds for World Youth Day and CAFOD around Stubbington and Lee-on-the-Solent along the South Coast.

The walk should be suitable for all and is approximately 8 miles along flat terrain and follows a circular route.

The day will start with a short liturgy and there will be checkpoints along the route to reflect on the work of CAFOD and the message for World Youth Day.

The Big Tent Event

Queens Avenue, Aldershot

The Big Tent Event is a joint event organised by Civilian Churches and the Army Chaplains to bring to the civilian community the work carried out by the Forces Chaplains either here at home, abroad or in Afghanistan. 

Events for young people include:

 

FRIDAY
19.00 – 22.00 hrs   “Chrissy Paladino and Friends”
Widely acclaimed Gospel Singers with an international reputation. Top class free entertainment to raise some money for Army Widows, Combat Stress and Help for Heroes.
 
SATURDAY  
14.00 – 18.00 hrs   “Youth Event” FUN FOR ALL THE FAMILY.
Family activities for younger children with a secure play area. Plus a variety of workshops for young adults including music from the street, rappers and street/break dancing.
 
16.00 - 18.00hrs “Taize Service”
A relaxed informal service with special atmosphere and contemporary music.
 
19.00 – 22.00hrs “Youth Rock, Rap and Praise Music Party”
- Da-Vison, I=Change, The Delores Dancers and various London/UK Urban Street Rappers Perform in concert

This will be an extended day, where we will be joining other young people to celebrate National Youth Sunday.
The WYD group from Jersey will also be travelling over to join us on this day.
It is hoped that there will be a series of workshops, including music, mime, art and drama as well as talks on Vocation and Theology of the Body. The day will end with Mass and food.

This weekend is an opportunity to explore how we are called, as baptised people, to share our faith and experience with others. We will approach the theme through practical sessions, input, prayer, reflection and liturgy. The weekend will be led by members of the Department for Pastoral Formation and others.
