Stewardship in the Diocese

Some of the responses from the six pilot parishes which have been involved in this process have been remarkable.

In Christ the King, Reading, 70 people ‘signed up’ for active ministry. City Centre parish in Southampton together with Abingdon, Stubbington and Lee on Solent, Totland on the Isle of Wight all had a positive response. Totland saw the weekly offertory increase without any request for more money!

None of this could have happened without the huge work done both by the clergy and Stewardship teams of each of these parishes. All the groups have been invited to meet in Winchester in July, to celebrate and share the experience with each other.

The Diocesan Stewardship group which steered the pilot has a lot of work to do in evaluating the process and preparing to offer it to pastoral areas in the diocese as a ‘roll out’ programme.
