The aim of these pages is to highlight the importance of welcome in our parishes/pastoral areas and to explore ways in which our communities can further develop an attitude of acceptance and inclusiveness to all.

As Christians, welcome is at the heart of all that we do.

Over the last few years many of our parishes have done much to ensure that they are places that are welcoming and inclusive to all. The response to both the Diocesan Pastoral Plan and the Listening 2004 process, affirmed this good practice yet at the same time recognised that in some areas, more could be done especially for those who felt marginalized.

Welcome is to be the very heartbeat of the faith community.  Then we will be an effective sign of God in the world, making the Good News known.
