"Christian
love of neighbour and justice cannot be separated.
For love implies an absolute demand for justice,
namely a recognition of the dignity and rights of
one's neighbour. Justice attains its inner fullness
only in love"

The Bible and today's
Church teachings, encourage us to play an active
role by:
 |
Being aware of justice
and peace issues
|
 |
Increasing awareness
amongst others of the issues
|
 |
Realising the causes
of injustices
|
 |
Personal witness -
living out our faith values
|
 |
Promoting action for
justice and peace
|
 |
Praying for change in
situations of injustice
|
 |
Raising funds to help
change unjust structures
|
 |
Thinking Globally,
Acting Locally |
Within Justice and peace,
the diocese covers areas as diverse as global issues
such as aid, trade and cancellation of debt of the
world’s poorest countries to environmental issues;
housing, homelessness to racial justice issues;
interfaith working relations, welfare of asylum
seekers, refugees and immigrants to Fairtrade. |

justly, love tenderly, walk humbly with your God"

A Message from
Bishop Crispian
"A living
faith and the thirst for justice and peace go hand
in hand.
Our faith
commits us to upholding the dignity and value of
every human person and with that goes the commitment
to justice and peace.
This needs to
be a major part of the Pastoral Plan for the
diocese, not just as the enthusiasm of some but as a
mainstream engagement by everyone.
I want to
encourage this as vigorously as I can and I warmly
welcome the re-emergence of Justice and Peace as a
major element of what it means to be a Catholic Christian
in the Portsmouth Diocese today".
