Leadership Course

This course, for those serving the Church in positions of leadership, will take place over 2 Saturdays and 8 evenings. The course has already taken place in Chandlers Ford and  is taking place in Tilehurst. The course will run in Bournemouth during the summer and autumn terms.

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?

Those who are

keen to respond to the challenges of the Pastoral Plan
coordinators of ministry groups e.g. catechists, readers, musicians
members of Pastoral Councils or Finance Committees
priests or deacons
in positions of leadership within the Church or interested in leadership
 

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The cost of the course is £50 per participant, preferably payable by the participant’s worshipping community.

Participants are asked to commit themselves to the whole course. Please note that places are limited.

WHAT WILL IT INCLUDE?

Through guided reading of Church documents and other relevant material, scripture and prayer and reflection on our own practice and experience, we will explore:
the baptismal vocation as the foundation of ministry in the Church
models of church and models of leadership
legal and canonical issues
the leadership roles of deacons and lay people
characteristics of a good leader
group facilitation and listening skills
collaborative working
consensus decision-making
working with change and transition
conflict resolution
discerning priorities
the pastoral use of Scripture in the community
ecumenical and Interreligious relationships

 

  A preparatory reading list will be sent to those who book for this course.

During the course participants will be asked to keep a reflective journal, and, at the end of the course, to submit a 1000 word summary of this journal.
On completion of this summary, and attendance of at least 80% of the sessions, participants will be awarded a diocesan certificate.
