It is reasonable to ask a key question.
Why should Catholic parishes (and religious houses and schools for that
matter) and the Diocese want Fairtrade status?
Well, it
 |
allows all of us, as the
'Body of Christ,' to demonstrate our solidarity with the poor and disadvantaged
rural producers in the developing world |
 |
enables individual members of
our congregations to see and try for themselves the expanding and excellent
range of Fairtrade products |
 |
helps show other local communities
that we have a practical commitment to helping those in need - a widely
acknowledged sign of humanitarian concern |
 |
helps us in working in unity
with other churches supporting Fairtrade |
 |
encourages other groups or
parties who hold meetings on our premises to sign up too (though you're
not responsible for what they serve at their meetings)
|
 |
give us all something extra
to feel proud about as Catholics and Christians |
