Hugely successful Diocesan Day for Readers 2018

18th June 2018

98 readers from across the diocese came together on Saturday 16th June for a day of formation and fellowship, to refresh their understanding of the Liturgy of the Church and of the Bible, so as to be able to proclaim the Word of God with faith, reverence, and understanding. Fleur Dorrell, from the Bible Society / Bishops’ Conference spoke remarkably on the place of the Word of God in the Liturgy of the Church, using stunning works of religious art and Sr Hyacinthe, from Formation for Mission, spoke about the 4 senses of Scripture. Thanks to the Bible Society, participants were treated to a fantastic lunch, followed by a time of sharing on the best practices for readers in church, drawing from everyone’s experiences and insights. The day began and ended with the worship of God, starting with Mass and ending with a time of prayer. Our thanks go to Fr Chris Rutledge and the parishioners of St Bede’s who opened their church and hearts to all of us!’
