Caritas Bollywood Fundraising Event

Bollywood comes to the Cathedral

Representing Hindi Cinema and mixing the two names, Bombay and Hollywood, there are few of us that have not heard of the word Bollywood, especially its amazing music and dancing.

Caritas Diocese of Portsmouth, acting on an idea from one of its volunteers, Survinder Kaur, decided to run a Bollywood evening on July 4th in the Cathedral Discovery Centre. Until the actual evening we were unsure exactly how many would come along, but in the end over 120 people squeezed into the Cathedral hall to experience an amazing evening of entertainment, music, dancing and an incredible freshly cooked Indian dinner.

I challenge anyone to sit still once that music starts, as a result the dance floor was full of people, young and old alike. Caritas wants to send out a big thank you all those who bought tickets and donated to the evening and also to those who worked hard to organise the event. The proceeds of the evening will go towards helping the homeless, refugees, asylum seekers etc.

With so many visitors asking when the next event will be we look forward to a future similar event.
